Hey all
So Im bored with my sigma 70-300mm and want to take it further.
Ive been looking at the sigma 50-500mm but thats a bit pricey and will take longer to save up for so does anyone recomend the sigma 150-500mm or what about a 2x teleconverter on the existing sigma ?
Thanks alot in advance
Joe

Hi there,

From what I've seen I think the 50-500mm OS version gives better results and is definitely sharper wide open at f/6.3. I have the 150-500mm OS and although I've had some decent shots at f/6.3, it's better at f/8. For the money I think the 150-500 a good lens.

Most of these > here < were taken with it (from the Skua with egg and down) and all of these ones > here < were also with the 150-500 -mostly taken at the 500mm end.

I'm selling my one shortly though - I'm going to go for a 300mm f/4 lens and teleconverter instead, as I had good results with the one I hired.

Cheers mate I like them pics too. I might look at the 150-500mm then coz the 50-500mm is pretty pricey, worth it i bet though

The standard the 70-300mm lens is not compatible with teleconverturs. Well saying that I can make my Sigma 2X TC fit my 70-300mm but then you cant zoom out all the way, the auto focus does not work and you end up with a tiny maximum aperture. So all in all relatively pointless
