The sensor has a 20mp top layer and 5mp layers for green and red color.

30% more resolution!!!! Blimey!

Curious that they chose to double up the blue layer rather than the green. Bayer sensors have more green sensels because the green channel contains more luminance information than the other two.

It looks weird, more unconventional than the Sigma DP2 Merrill. Hopefully they iron out a lot of the niggles of the Merrills, this could be a really great camera if they don't do a Sigma brainfart and price it at £2,000.

It is nice to see them innovating an alternative design.

2.8 is a tad slow for 30mm lens. I suppose it makes it small.

This must have something to do with higher transmittance of their blue layer chip... or better sensitivity in the dark (remember you stop seeing red first, then green). I can't think of anything else. Otherwise green would make more sense.

It's occurred to me that, since blue light has a shorter wavelength than red or green, it will suffer the effects of diffraction later than the other two channels (the Airy disks are smaller).

Price will be a massive factor in this as they are actually releasing '3' new cameras, each with a different fixed focal length.

the past ones gave really good image quality, at low iso. As in a step or two better than anything else

Sigma RRPs are usually calculated at NASA. I'd reckon over a grand at launch, if they are smart they would come in as twist says £800-£999.99. Really good would be close to Ricoh GR pricing as that is a nice little camera and the likes they will be competing with.

I cancelled my DP3M order because I just know I'm going to have to try one of these. I like weird.

thought did pass my mind aswell but for me I want the 3m for the focal length as I don't have that mm on the XPro1 so it helps justify the cost.

that quattro does look interesting though but then again so do the others.
David did you manage to find a dp3 in the end?

Nice one..looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it.
