I was walking along Sauchiehall Street this evening and for once wasn't rushing for my bus. I noticed there were shopfitters working in the shop at the corner of Cambridge St (roughly halfway between the two existing Jesspos branches). What drew my attention was that the only recognisable thing anong the new shelving being assembled was a Nikon banner high up on the wall.
Having pressed my nose to the window I think I made out 'Jacobs' on a sign lying on the floor....

So, what's Jacobs like? Is it going to be a curse since I pass that way to get my bus every night?

Well... I don't live anywhere near Glasgow but I'd expect this to cost you dearly in time :)

*any* decent camera shop on the way home is just bound to! If it's any consolation Jacobs have a good reputation.

cheers and consolations...

What are their prices like? Same like to similar sounding Jessops?

Be interesting to see what effect they have on Jessop's trade.

Oh nice one! The last time I remember Jacobs was that branch just up from the CBI building, I think it was New Oxford Street - right across from Jessops funnily enough! Good computer shop nearby also, Morgans or something.

They were advertising for staff over the summer, I got an interview but found out the next day that I had a place on the degree course at UWS/Met so never went for it.
Thank god, I'd have been right buggered if I'd gotten the job and they still weren't open!
Looking forward to them opening though.
The big Jessops has at one member of staff that I find very hard to deal with and it always seems to be him that's free whenever I go in!

I'm sure there's a member here that works in that Jessops?

If you are having a problem with one of the staff then ask to speak to Michael, the manager, he'll see you right

hehe, I had a right go at him recently regarding the grip on my 50D that I had. His initial reaction to me was poor so I had to kick off a little in the middle of a busy store but in the end he did do his best within what I'm guessing is the old corporate red-tape?

I hate having to argue in store as people tend to think you are just being an idiot as they don't hear the full story.

Of course I ended up having to wait a fairly long time for AJ Johnstone to repair it (fortunately under warranty). Customer service sucks these days if you ask me.
