Yes
So BT sent me a new router, but my home netorkwing just doesn't work now.

AppleTV wont connect - my ipad, iphone, macbook and imac can't see it.

Also I used to be able to see my imac and my macbook in each others finder but no longer

What is not working in my router that has stopped this?

But Joe... Apple stuff "just works" ;)

What does and doesn't work from your Macs. Can you connect to the outside world and browse? From all machines? It may be there is a setting in the HH that stops bonjour working (which is I guess what the Apple stuff is using to to see the other machines).

Have you rebooted the AppleTV?

There may be a setting on the router about wireless devices being able to see or not see each other.

Also check the subnet used is the same for all machines. Check dhcp settings and see which devices are getting ips successfully and which aren't.

It might also be worth doing a full reset on the appletv to remove all previous settings in case it is hanging onto out of date information.

it was all working. The new router is whats to blame and has buggered it all up

each device individually works perfectly - connects to the outside world. Just that they don't see each other.

Yes reset the AppleTv completely back to factory settings. The fact thta my imac and macbook dont see each other anymore either tells me its the router not the appletv

You may as well have written that in dutch

I have zero idea what any of that means

did you say something about dubstep?

I'd ring BT. It's their router. They'll know where the setting is to make sure wireless devices can see each other. In security settings it is quite often switched off by default so anyone nicking your wireless can't see what other machines are connected.

Does the new router utilise the same code for network access as the old one?
If it doesn't then nothing will connect.

Of the devices that can connect, what are their ip addresses?

From the appletv setup, can the appletv 'see' the router at all?

I have an idea or two which may be confirmed or shot out of the water by the answers to those questions....

Just a thought, turning Air Drop on the iMac and MBP, can they see each other this way.

Also aret the firewalls turned OFF on the Mac's

SOLVED IT!

I opened up the hub settings and just changed the wireless channel from automatic to 1, then everything instantly worked.

I read someone else did this with an appletv that was having intermittent issues. All my devices are now networked again also

One of the problems with protecting users from the guts of the hardware etc is that when something goes wrong you cannot see issues. I was using one of my new raspberry pis the other day and attempting to get the wireless networking to work when I looked into one of the tabs. In it was every router it could see, the security used, channel numbers, strength etc etc. With this information you now pick a clear channel. Dumbing down things isn't always the best way. For some inexplicable reason the BT router has chosen a channel that is congested! Why it has not changed channel is a question for the programmers but it isn't good.

The channel selection is generally done at boot time.

Glad you have sorted it, Joe because if you had needed to call the BT help you would be in a labyrinth of confusion.

I once spent about 20 mins trying to convince the BT Helpdesk that as all five internet enabled devices in the house could not connect to the 'net it was unlikely that the problem was with my PC.

They are UK based call centres I think with BT business... I also pay for a business service. You get what you pay for unfortunately....
