Hi chaps and chapettes!

Just got an email from AG-Photographic and this caught my eye...

http://www.ag-photographic.co.uk/high-acutance-104-c.asp

I'm pretty sure I'm not just really behind the times on this! Having a look it now seems there are three variations of rodinal... One made to the exact Agfa specs, one made similar, and one made to a 66 year old forumla.

Will be interesting to see if there is an appreciable difference in the results, and indeed, whether there is a clear favorite!?

XLOL :)

Yes, you are a bit behind the times. There have been different variations of Rodinal kicking around for a while.

I suspect the difference in results between Adonal (sure I had those out as a kid) and RO9 are pretty subjective and probably as much down to variation in barometric pressure when developing as they are chemical variances.

Not sure about the "Military" grade though, I'd be interested to know the recipes for all 3.

i'd hedge my bets and say that we will probably not notice an appreciable difference unless the negs are properly scanned and pixel peeping occurs. being as ive got about 450ml of RO9, i doubt i will be needing military grade film dev :p

I was thinking of maybe picking up some Rodinal as an alternative to the bottle of T-Max Dev I bought, but I couldn't get my head around the various formulations! I'm guessing the 'original' is the formula that most recipes and people on discussion forums are using, so maybe that's still the best...

I use R09 because it was cheap (£3?/300ml?) and came in that nifty packaging, i don't think there's that much difference between them.

Turns out the Fomapan 100 I was going to try Rodinal with seems to develop quite well - at least according to some of the examples on filmdev.org - with T-Max Dev so I may try that first before buying any R09.
