I have just bought a GRIII...first impressions, it's a very good camera, as expected.

One thing that really annoyed me was that they have changed the mounting lugs for the adapter, so I couldn't use my GH-3 adapter, the GW-3 wide angle lens, or the lens hood. These have been sitting in a cupboard since my GR died. However, early buyers of the GRIII get two lens rings, a blue one (shown on the camera), and the normal black one, which got me thinking.... I decided to do a mod.
First, I cut off the part of the adapter with the lugs for attaching to the camera, using a Dremel. I then sanded down the inside edge to fit the bevelled edge of the lens ring, and glued the lens ring in place using JB Weld.

Here's the modified adapter

The wide angle lens works just as well on the GRIII as it did on the GR. It's excellent. Of course, exif will be wrong, and any lens corrections will have to be done in Lightroom, but that's a small price to pay for saving the better part of 300 quid.
