New railway excuse - pheasant on the line!

Unfortunate but if a spur hit the air brake line and pierced it (which is what sounds like happened), the train is going to come to a fairly rapid halt!

Oh my... I hope the pheasants are not revolting.....

Only when overhanged!

I hope they never killed it, Pheasant season ended 31st Jan ! ( or 1st Feb depending on how you interpret it ;) )
Wild life crime = £5000 fine and or 6 months in jail!

It was one of them there Scottish pheasants.
Hard little buggers. :D

Not convinced on the legality of releasing non native species into the wild. They've been here a while but aren't native.

Its illegal plain and simple.
However there is a loop hole that allows game birds to be be released and supposedly caught up.
All responsible shoot have a "round up" at the end of the season, that satisfies MAFF as it was then, DEFRA, in later years and now Natural England.

Half the population are non native so leave the poor birds alone they had no say in being here the people did.............

(Tongue in cheek)

It was the 05:54 train, so all 132 passengers must have been up at stupid o'clock to catch it, so I'm guessing that sitting about for all that time didn't go down well. They'll be needing to bring back the steam trains with cowcatchers on the front! ;)

They should hush up.
At least they had a seat!

Lots still around down here and we've had them in the front garden here in town, well away from any shoots.

Opps.. miss read that as peasant on the line, we get a lot of that down my way.

As always and everywhere!
I'm sure NE really couldn't be bothered to make an issue out of it, if they tried a test case, I'm sure some smart arsed lawyer would find one of the many loop holes,
besides, they are now breeding in the wild and not impacting on native species.

Think on, the red kite re-introduction programme was from Spanish stock.
Technically a none indigenous (sub) species.
Its the same if we lose a BoP, we have to make all possible attempts to recapture it, and need special dispensation to trap it, ( as that is also illegal)
if it won't respond to normal methods.
But we don't get fined if we don't recover it ;)

Sadly the 'knuckle draggers' are more of a problem than the paysans down here....

I struggle with the conversation.... "let's go play on the railway line.....!"

Still it can weed out the imbeciles.
