I have bought a new photo printer, a Canon Pixma ip7250. I am really pleased with it but need some pointers on getting the colour back on.

I am trying to get a print to match the best it can against the photo lab version.

The image is black and white and when I print a version it has a slight blue tint compared to the lab version.

I have never adjusted the printer properties and was wondering how I could go about setting this up and making some sort of profile to use each time I print.

The first thing to do is calibrate your monitor, colour munki is very good for the monitor and you can make printer profiles too.
Then your screen colours will be nearer the colours you are aiming to produce, many different help on here if you search in the box

I recently bought the Pixma iP7250 with a view to it replacing my ageing Epson Photo R300, and the initial results were disappointing.

Unlike the Epson, the pixma is very critical with regards to the profile of the photo paper it prints on.

Whereas the Epson is quite happy with either Epson own brand paper, or Ilford, the pixma doesn't like them.

I bought some Canon glossy photo paper, and set the pixma to print to that paper, and the results were then fine.

I still think that the old Epson R300 has the edge, but the Pixma iP7250 results are fine, as long as you use Canon's own brand paper.

You can get it to work ok with other papers, but you will need to experiment with the colour balance settings.

Dave

P.S. I should add that I calibrate my monitor using a Spyder Pro 3.
