New Printer Advice

Hi folks,

I have a small budget of £150 pound for a new printer

I would like to print some of my photos (A4 Size)...And would like the best quality within that budget
Other requirement would just be basic print....word doc , kids schoolwork etc
I am not bothered about other stuff...Google cloud...Print from a smartphone etc

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I reckon that it would be far cheaper and more effective to job your photo-printing out to a lab, and get a cheap printer for the everyday stuff. Inks are expensive and printers only last so long, however good they're claimed to be.

I've had good results with a fairly basic Canon A4 (MG5250) which has 5 inks. I've used Canon inks; mixed workload, mostly ordinary A4 printing, occasional photo printing, mainly on Kodak Ultra Premium glossy. As above, it isn't cheap, but the results in colour have surprised me. Black and white is not so good; I get colour casts which are annoying. I also bought a MG 6350 which has 6 inks for another location; for various reasons that more expensive printer is quite a bit less usable. The extra ink is a grey; I've only done one black and white with it so far and there was less colour cast but still some. I've heard that some higher end Epson printers are better for black and white, but they may be above your budget, and I've no personal experience.
