Not just where two words have been joined, though, I thought. Also where letters have just been removed, such as " 'phone " and " bo's'n ". Except for where the letters have been removed from the end, such as " photo " etc.

I'm jus't guessin'g now.

would enjoy any programme about photography as there are NONE that I know of.
Suzi Perry is vastly overrated as a presenter AND as being attractive- you wouldn't give her a second glance in the street if she wasn't well known- this should be presented by someone attractive and interesting- think I'll give them a call:p:cuckoo:

Whilst we are being pedantic, NONE is a shortening of not one, there preceded with is and not are :)

Enjoying the English lesson there..............

I've got a better idea, I'll take a look at the programme when it is on and then decide whether to watch more episodes or not. Simple's.
 
I wasn't aware Suzy perry was a photographer, or is she just playing at it for the show :shrug:

P.S comma after 'are' and full stop after 'none', no capital 'T' at 'there' as it's not a new sentence.............

....unless of course you're in the first person, or prefixed with nouns or subjunctive plurals in which case a grunt will suffice:cuckoo::nuts::nuts::nuts:

Thanks for quoting my blog! Thought I'd join the conversation after noticing my web statistics showing traffic from this forum.

Apart from the correct use of English debate above I can help answer a few queries. Suzi Perry only presented the introductions to us mortals. She had a huge table of make-up and 6 outfits to wear. She's quite nice in real life and we had a giggle. Perhaps she thought to herself I looked a bit like Jason Bradbury with my flat cap and glasses ;). See me in action to see what I mean.

The rest of the show I appeared on was filmed in Brighton with Martin Parr being the expert and the director calling the shots. Mr Parr gave us a 'master-class' to myself and another (a lovely lady called Susie) on day 1, we did our own assignment on day 2 and day 3 was to review our work with Martin selecting his favourite photos.

There'll be 5 other episodes dealing with portrait, landscape, action etc. They plan to broadcast in mid to late September. The 13th had been quoted but that might change depending on editing time. I asked the director about HD transmission and he said it wouldn't be even though they were recording in HD.

I really enjoyed the experience and I think the programme will be both entertaining to causal photographers but will also introduce the personalities of the experts. Whether I learnt something along the way, well why not read more at my blog.

Thanks TriggerHappy. Forgot to say that we had to use Panasonic Lumix cameras throughout the programme and wasn't allowed to use my Nikon. Can you guess who sponsored the show?

It wasn't a bad camera actually but most of the time I didn't quite know how to change the settings. Some good results mind.

PS Whenever I've seen Martin Parr on TV he has come over a bit grumpy, and I'm not that enamoured of his pics. I think I would have been disappointed if I was in your position. ;)

I really don't care how truculent he appears as it is his technique and photographs that are important and not his demeanour. But then I do think Martin Parr is a genius whose photographs document a vision of the world that we know but hardly notice.

I think gingerdj has had a fantastic opportunity and, even if not being paid, the chance to learn techniques from a significant Magnum photographer is reward enough. Hope the programme turns out as interesting as it could be...

And I think I said, I don't really like his photos. So I'm not quite agreeing that he is a 'genius'. :shrug:

Each to their own though, I'm glad his images give you pleasure. :)

He is a member of Magnum. That suggests he has some qualities as a photographer that I and you (probably) don't share.

True, and I fall in the middle, I think some of his photos are genius and others are crap.

Some people put Tracey Emin is an artistic genius and put her stuff in galleries. I think it's poncy ****e.

Just because someone gets somewhere does not mean that they have to be heralded by everyone else. Each to their own.

If we all had the same opinions it would be a quite boring and uniform World. :shrug:

Luckily for Martin Parr's career, my opinion doesn't count. ;) :lol:

You can only say what you like or don't like. Part of Magnum, so what! :shrug: I don't like (for the vast majority, I won't say all) his pictures. :nono:


It will be interesting to see this TV show. Having all the photographers using the same camera wouldn't have been the direction I would have went down, as if they stick with one type (maybe not for each programme), and more specifically one brand, they could be limiting their appeal to a lot of photographers. People like to see equipment similar to what they have, or what they aspire to. I think that was one of the good things about 'A Digital Picture of Britain' on the BBC a few years ago, they had a range of different types of digital camera which they gave to the photographers involved. Obviously the BBC didn't have to bow to advertisers. ;)
 
The TV series titled 'How to take stunning pictures' is scheduled to be broadcast from Tuesday 7th September from 7:30pm to 8pm on both Five and Five HD.

First episode is Portraits with Harry Borden as the expert.

Glad Im not the only one who cant find it then. You would have thought in this day & age we could have a little pad where you could just type in the title and hey presto a search would be done and up it would pop with the info of what channel and the option to record it by now.
 
Shame the Gadget show has turned into a poor mans top gear, used to quite like it...
 
Found it on the EPG on my freesat and, yep next Tuesday at 19.30. I have the whole series set to record on the Humax box. It says the photographer is Harry Borden though.
