Nice, I really like them in red! I’ve got a T5 which is converted to a day van... RnR bed, insulated, soundproofed and carpeted. Mine’s a slightly odd layout with the cupboard storage and hob/sink accessed through the rear meaning there’s nowhere to stand when the bed’s up but it sort of works quite well. Good luck with it, they are great fun.

The bed's in and the walls are insulated.

It's a cheap van so we're not looking for perfection.

Roof light next then the cladding for the ceiling.

Did an LDV some years ago which was fun but the van itself was a mistake to buy.

Nice! +you are not far from me either - Bridgend area.

I would love to sell up in a few years, buy a motorhome and hit the road.

My wife isn't as keen sadly.

I've friends bought a Danbury conversion for birdwatching trips, but that was around £60k. They are good looking vans

Nice. Underseal it every year with dinitrol 4941 while it is still new and it will never rust. Just heat up the tin with boiling water and paint it on instead of paying £500 for a garage to spray it on. Probably cost £30 a year

A very nice van indeed. I had an earlier model for work and really liked it. One tip - if carrying expensive kit therein may I suggest having some deadlocks fitted to the doors.

Waxoil clear? I've had that on my chassis for the last 5 years and no signs of rust, yet preserves (ish) the colour

Tell you what - is it a blank van in the back? Could you turn it into a camera obscura with a small pinhole and a screen, then photograph the screen?

Cool
Are you planning onon converting it to a day van or camper?

It's already carpeted in the back, but I'm just going to get it insulated and sound deadened. Not bothering to put a bed or anything in the back. Just have me camping bed and a stove or something.

Don't know about waxoil. Dinitrol does look tidy if you bother with spraying it. I just paint it to save cost and effort.

I did think of a mobile darkroom for my film stuff, but my missus quickly put an end to that thought, suggesting that turning a £22k new van into a darkroom would also bring a rather expensive divorce! :(

Only needs a small hole... :D She'll never notice

We bought our Master for exactly the same thing, looking to do more photo trips this year so always looking for ideas / meet ups etc.

We've just started converting a Vauxhall Movano LWB.

Long job

We've got to re-do ours as we've got the baby now, keep adding to it gradually as we can afford it, got a Propex heater to fit this year!

Best photography accessory you can get!

Better nick than ours but around the same year. I need to sort some rust behind the black plastic trim and fit a window or two.

@Unlocker

Was yours an ex minibus Danny?

Certainly helps to have all those windows before converting.

Yup, ex-NHS Patient Transport, all seats were sold before we got it, ply-lined with basic insulation, lights and roof vent definitely made life easier. The air-con unit on the roof was basically scrap so we removed that and added another roof vent with built in fan and 3x 100w solar panels on the roof to power 2x leisure batteries under the passenger seat. Hand made (extremely basic!) units from scrap furniture, porta-potti and a waeco CRX-110 fridge are in with a Propex heater bought ready to fit. Overall cost about the same as my used 400mm f2.8!

Only got the bed done so far but only had it 2 weeks and it's too damn cold to attack the rust.
I'd like to say I'd be using the Dinitrol 4941 but I'm afraid it needs a can of Dinitrol RC900 to convert the rust.
Not too much, just behind the plastic trim along the sides.
RC900 when the weather's warmer.
