Hello, as you will probably gather I'm new to photography so need any help I can get. Would like to find out how I can improve on anything and everything so would be grateful for any input (good or bad) on the photos so far uploaded.

Newbie eh? Not sure I totally buy that.

I like the way you've seen all those shots. Sure some haven't quite hit the mark, in terms of focus mostly but exposure a little too. The main thing is that all the ideas are strong. The compositions are strong, the framing is tight on the subject and the backgrounds work.

Not sure what type of camera your using, not digital I'm guessing from the scans but there are some things that are just good workflow on any system. Make each part of the image making process a deliberate one.

Frame
Focus
Check around all the edges for unwanted stuff.
Expose.

The most important bit...... and this is far bigger than everything else, enjoy it. :D

I agree with dazzajl that the compositions are strong but some of them look out of focus and as is they have been scanned by a scanner that is past its sell by date.

It has left horizontal bands running accross your shots.

Only advice I can give is to either clean the scanner or splash out and get a new one .... :thumbs:

Hi everybody, thanks for the comments, will take them all on board. Hypnotic think you may be right about the scanner, it certainly has seen better days (a bit like it's owner I'm afraid). Thanks again and nice to meet you all.
