Been putting this off since my contract ran out 2/3 months ago, but think its time as my screens cracked and been having a few issues.

So i currently have a samsung s4 which I've enjoyed ad have always had samsung's since i switched to smart phones.

The biggest issue is probably like most the price, I'm on 3 and only pay £24 a month for 600min/ unlimited txts and unlimited data.
The data isn't an issue as looking back i rarely use over 2gb as I'm at home a lot so use the wifi.

All the newer phones seem a lot more expensive looking at £32 a month for unlimited call/txt and 2gb data for a newer handset.

So far I'm stuck between s5/s6/z3 and iPhone 6.

any help would be appreciated.

Seriously though, I switched from an iPhone 5S to a OnePlus One earlier this year and never looked back.

The OnePlus Two is released shortly but good luck getting hold of one for a while.

I went from a samsung S3 to a S5 the S6 was a lot more expensive
Really pleased with the S5 it's excellent really fast and the screen is superb

hmmmm if it was me i would be looking for a good deal on a used i-phone 5 series or 6 and get a sim only deal ,i currently have 5000 minutes any network,5000texts and 1 gb data for £9.50 a month ,year long contract ,if you go for a 30 day rolling contract there more expensive but easier to switch .shop around for sim only deals you will be surprised how cheap they are now

look at going to a SIM only deal with your current provider and go buy your own phone.
You might be able to save £10/month on your contract and a nice clean used S4 can be had for £140.

Call them up and see what deals can be done you would be surprised at sometimes what can be offered if you ask nice and be polite.

depends on the phone really.

when i got my iPhone 5S 64Gb if i remember rightly it only worked out about £30 different over 2 years from going 24 month contract or going comparable SIM deal with new handset outright.

edit: £50. see here - https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/oneplus-one.550216/#post-6360625 (ironically a thread where i was dissing my current handset :D )

For my next phone I'm buying handset only and staying on a cheaper rolling contract. Why?

1. I have the cash now, and interest rates are so derisory I won't earn much having it in the bank for 2 years
2. I'll forget when my contract ends, so end up paying the 'capital' cost more than once

Used Samsung phones are mega bargains, fresh (genuine) battery of Amazon with a factory reset and its a new phone.

I recently purchased a Note 2 off here for £100 and it was a minter.
I am on EE SIM Only only for £19
600mins, unlimited text and 3Gb Data

Get a nice Ubuntu phone :)

Seriously though, I really like Windows phone as well. Those lumias rock and with Windows 10 it is pretty awesome.

If you remained android it would have to be either nexus or one plus two ;) for me.

I just gave in and got a Samsung S6 because the camera on it is brilliant.
I was looking at getting a decent P&S camera to carry with me at work as the DSLR isn't
practical, but for a similar price I bought the phone.
Always had Samsung and love them, daughter has an I Phone and after playing with the samsung is seriously thinking of changing
on her next upgrade

I got mine through Direct Mobiles and couldn't fault the service. Samsung Galaxy S5 1000 mins, unlimited texts, 2GB data £24.99 month on EE. I went through Topcashback and got £30.00 cash back too:)

a OnePlus One

This phone is getting a very good following and certainly worth a consider - have you thought / can you afford to buy the phone yourself and drop the price of tariff down to SIM only ?

The OPO is a very good phone. Nobody offers it on a contract so it would be a purchase the handset and SIM only deal.

Just to upset things, I`ve had a few Samsungs including S4Mini, hated every one, found Sony Xperia`s better.

The S4Mini had less than 12 months drove me mad with constant Notifications, unreliable touchscreen (never knew what it would open next, most of the time not what I wanted)
