Needing a new PC..will just be used for Photoshop,Lightroom and just general pc stuff,office,internet,no gaming..Have just been looking on Chillblast and have come up with this..

Looks good - me personally next upgrade i'll be getting a blu-ray writer, cheap for back up then.
 
2 Gigs is a fairly hefty hard disk. Whatever you do, make sure you have a suitable automated backup procedure in place.
 
I've used a few Crucial M4's - not the fastest but are great value and they come with a 5yr warranty

You definately don't need this high level of graphics card if you aren't gaming.

This is the card that comes with this particular setup,it can be changed but not knowing enough about graphics cards i'll keep it..wont hurt to have more than is needed will it ;)
 
If the Mother Board supports RAID, I'd have another HD to run as Backup. If you back up to an external Hard Drive, then this is not really necesary.
Sort of Belt and Braces if you already back up externally.
 
I would be tempted to throw as much memory in as will physically fit. The max Windows will allow is 192Gb - dunno if your board will allow that much though!

RAID isn't a backup option. My first priority with backup would be to get the drive powered by a different PSU (unless USB powered). Don't want a PSU taking out both your main and backup disk.

8G will do, 16G will be better if you do a lot in Photoshop (LR doesn't really use a lot of memory - it seems to peak at around 2G).
 
I'd go 16GB ram is pretty cheap these days. As for backup, I like to have a clone (OS, app etc), external HD backing up working files and then a cloud backup, I may even setup a second external for working files... backup - it endless :)
 
16gb is about the most anyone really needs at the moment unless your running several virtual machines or something daft. But 8 is still pretty capable on a budget.

And for goodness sake raid is not a backup. (pet hate)

It does hurt, your bank balance. Depending on what version/brand this is a £300 gfx card and if your not gaming then it's a complete waste of money. Downgrade the card and use the difference on another part of the system.
