new PC...saving some money...

DVI should be fine then. If you ever go to dual monitors a cheap graphics card popped into the PCI-e x 16 slot would do you there...

Only has a a single 6GB/s (SATA 3) HDD socket too, plenty of standard HDDs in 1TB and larger sizes in the 6GB/s format available now so why put a slower HDD in the system?
no mechanical hard disk drive can exceed 3Gbps at the moment. SATA 6 HDD are for marketing purposes only.

i also ran SSDs with SATA3 with no noticeable speed difference when i changed motherboard. there are 6 SATA ports on the motherboard i posted earlier. after initial HDD, SSD and DVD drive, you still got got 3 ports for future expansion purposes.

(in fact, i've got my second SATA6 port empty at this very moment (high end Z68-UD5), it will only come in useful when 512GB SSD become affordable for a Steam games drive. to be honest i massively over spec'd my motherboard, but then it was second hand and costed the same as new ones i needed. )

what monitor will you be using?

also keep in mind ultra high resolution monitors won't work, will require a cheap graphics card. i've got a U2711 requiring dual-link DVI. none of the DVI ports on motherboard will work with it.

Excellent, hope it goes well for you.

As for the Gigabyte slaters, booooo to you! I have the same motherboard in another PC and its solid as a rock, like every other Giga board I've owned  :D

Well done, look forward to hearing how you find it. Always nice having a fresh new PC!

I have a gigabyte board too, didn't like the first lot of RAM I bought it but otherwise is OK. No brand is perfect!
