Bry :)

Nice, but remember it's not a standard Contax/Yashica fit for lenses.

Arthur

Aye I know, good news is the 2 lenses cover a nice range and tbh, im not really a good enough photographer to warrant technical gear ;) :p :D

Bry

Pah - you gotta have your toys!

Just an excuse for another camera ;)

Bry

Hurrah got someone to pick me up a roll of film so I'm gonna spend sunday having a wonder-about with the camera :D

Bry

Dear me heavy night drinking but I'm already up and ready to go out for the day shooting with the film! (Must be mad :D)

Also... its... dare I say it...aaaaaah... SUNNY!?! :D

Bry

Sunny here too, off out for a walk with one of these.

Had a good day with the Zorki yesterday, today I am going to try and hack a 35mm cannister to fit the Radix and take that out :D

Arthur

Just got back and although only took about 11 photos I enjoyed the whole process SO MUCH MORE than digital. This has majorly given me a boost towards my photography!

Going out later to do some more photos and then off to the shop Monday to get them developed :D

Doesn't it just, I think it is because you know that ultimately you are going to be holding the *photgraph* in your hand rather than looking at an image. You can pass it around and people can see it too!
... and then off to the shop Monday to get them developed :D

Lightweight :D

Arthur

Moving house in a week or two and I've already laid claim to the shed for use as a darkroom ;)

Better :D

I managed to put half a film in the Radix and have decided to shoot the other half in the Voigtlander Vitomatic IIa... this camera's got everything bar the fluffy dice!

Yup, 50mm f/2.8 on the SLK-v special Prontor :D

Feels beautiful in your hands, you can almost breathe in the engineering quality!

you can almost breathe in the engineering quality

Was about to comment, my Yashica might not be the BEST in film SLR benchmarks but in the hands to use, both body and lens feel so much nicer than my Nikon DSLR. The whole thing just feels like it wants to be used and abused where my DSLR feels like I need to wrap it in cotton wool...

Indeed...mine long gone ( to a member of this forum), but what a wonderful camera....they dont make it like that anymore....

By the standards of mass-produced cameras these days the Yashica's of that vintage are pretty solid and well engineered - i've got the 108 - maybe a couple of years older than yours, still manual focus, and takes the old Contax / Yashica lenses, but still has a few modern conveniences if you want 'em.

Body

35-70 Zoom

and the 75-200 zoom

Admittedly, most of the time I use my EOS-3 for 35mm work, mainly as I can share lenses with the dijical, but I still run the odd film through the Yashica.
Plus - with a C/Y to EOS adaptor, the 75-200 is a handy lens on the Canon's too :)

 I just knew you were going to say that!

I'm more likely to be buying a 28mm f2.8 and a fast 50mm f1.7 than selling to be honest

I know what you mean - I just bought me a1.4 55mm Rolleinar for the SL35, one always needs fast glass (and digital adapters :D )

Arthur

you lot are the kind of guys who are pushing the prices of these junk cameras up. ...I tell you....:D

Junk???

You wanna see a before and after piccie of this Bilora Radix?

Well - my 108 was bought brand new, and until about 15 months ago it was my only "proper" camera (not counting a Canon ixus v3 digital which was used as more of a visual notepad than a camera tbh) - problem is, now i've got used to a 50mm 1.4 on the EOS-3, i'm sort of missing something a bit faster than the 35-70 zoom. As i'm also mainly a landscape-ey kind of guy, something wider than 35mm never comes amiss!

LOL..that reminded me of AGFA CLICK cameras which was the only camera sold in India when I was growing up ( Click II, Click III and the most technologically advanced Click IV; you could have them in any colour, as long as its black)...

Black clack eh?

Here's the Radix before and after, and just peeked at the film looks like a wee light leak, nothing terminal though... will post later :D

Thats a lovely 35-70 zoom. If you ever sell it...:D:D

I don't think you should be allowed to buy anything else until you've been out and taken some photo's with some of those cameras you've got and use some of that film you've bought and posted the results on here

Wheeeeee Off i go to Bury St. Edmunds! Shoot another roll of film and get a couple developed!

Bry

Good luck Bryan... incidentally where are you? I am south Norfolk if you ever wanna nip up and develop some BW stuff?

Arthur

Now you must be joking Nick. I thought these cameras are for collecting only. Photos? what photos? :D :D

I'm with Nick... pretty soon I'll be after the other 10 rolls if you don't get yer finger out :D

Arthur - done the first roll in the Rollei today...

Hey Arthur im in a little ol' town called "Mildenhall" how about you?

As for the offer I really appreciate that and might well take you up on that one day :D

Just got back from prints and I am SO SO pleased with a few of them, already feel more confident than I EVER have done with digital. I'll be posting a few up soon :)

Umm, Hempnall, about 8 miles south of Norwich, off the A140 near Long Stratton. Any time you're up this way with a film give me a call - only takes 25 minutes (plus drying)

Arthur

Yes... and you're next with the Rollei too :D

I had a wee "accident" on developing the SL35 film earlier and got carried away doing something else... cooked it for about 25 minutes in the developer :( Could have been worse and I am so glad it was not exposed yesterday when it was sunshine-bright. I should be able to get most of the images back even if they will be a little... heavy shall we say :D

Cool - and every one had to be thought about before you pressed the shutter too! Good also to get proof that both the camera and your eye are working properly!

Arthur

Cheers :) Really happy with how they have come out :D
