New, old stock Spitfires.

Blimey!
Now there is history in the making !

Might need to knock up another hanger at Duxford if they find them and they're mostly in decent nick.

I watched a single spitfire display at our company meeting the sound was just amazing. Any potenial of a squadron flying together would be an amazing sound and spectical !!

Certainly a story to keep an eye on. Let's hope those transport crates were built to last like the planes in them :)

Oh wow, I hope they can get them all flying.. Something about watching spitfires at air shows makes the hair on my neck stand on end

oh indeed.... i think it is the 28 litres of Merlin V12.....

and it is so pretty..........

Wonderful story - great news. Easily the most beautiful plane ever, and one of the best sounds known to man!

They are as common as muck nowadays  I'm sure I read the other day there are currently 42 flying and now another 20

Even one or two flying and the rest for spares would be good.

really good news that. I suspect that even though they may have been well protected they would need to be fully stripped and restored, might see one flying in the next 5-10 years.

A squadron is 12 aircraft, and there's usually around that many at Duxford at least once every 2 years or so. There was 16 displaying at once there a couple of years ago.
If all 20 were flyable and in the UK, then 36 or so would make up the majority part of a wing. That would be worth seeing!

Great sight and sounds.

Stunning, thanks for posting the link

I've felt fortunate to be at Duxford when one or two have been flying, but I'd love to experience that many for myself. It gives me chills just thinking about it.
