It's my first go at doing one of these, so please yell if I muck it up in some way.

My theme for the next challenge is...

"The Postal System" - things part of, related to, or transported by the postal system anywhere in the world.

I hope this gives plenty of scope for you all to find something suitable in your archives. :)

Rules, copied and pasted from the last challenge, as is the tradition:

◦ Must be a photograph taken by you
◦ Must be on film
◦ Must have been taken (and devved and scanned) prior to the start date
◦ Please tell us about the camera and film etc, and a small description of the photo.

Closing date is 10th May at midnight.

This thread is for your entries. Nattering to be done in this thread.

Taken in the far NW of Scotland as the final shot to finish off a roll of process paid Sensia in my Konica FC1 (mid 90s?), I then popped it in the box. It was back from the Fuji lab within about 3 days, which was unbelievable given the distances involved. I was so pleased that I wrote to AP about it and they published the letter and sent me another roll!

I think I've posted this before, so apologies if it's not allowed.

Taken somewhere near Lake Garda in 2015, with a Leica M3 / Canon 50mm f1.8 LTM. The film is Fuji Eterna 250D, cross processed with Digibase C41 chemicals. Pakon scan.

As Nige says, a fine shot that makes you shiver on this warm(ish) May day and a worthy winner. (y)

Wow that's nice! Thanks for the votes, everyone. I'll get my thinking cap on and ask the others down in Cornwall for ideas... but it's our last day tomorrow, and traveling on Friday, so probably Saturday before the next one goes up. Feel free to nag me if I forget.

Very good and different shot Chris, well done.(y)

Well done Mr R, cracking shot.

Thanks again, folks.

Chris' shot reminded me of a passage from 'A Child's Christmas in Wales', a short story by Dylan Thomas:

"Were there postmen then, too?"
"With sprinkling eyes and wind-cherried noses, on spread, frozen feet they crunched up to the doors and mittened on them manfully. But all that the children could hear was a ringing of bells."

Funny how the atmosphere in certain photos can trigger memories. A lovely shot Chris, well done. :) (I can recommend the book too; good reading with a glass of brandy and a mince pie one evening during the Christmas hols! (y))

Similar for me. I looked at the photo and I could sense that stillness you get on snowy days when the sound is muffled with just the crunch of the snow underfoot and the feeling of snowflakes melting when they land on your face.
