New Old Film Challenge #45 'One from the wall' Discussion thread.

Excellent idea, I like it. (y)

Better get a hammer and nails out......actually it's a double contest in that the picture and the shot of the picture would be judged.

I assume it's just the image that's on the wall, not a new picture of the picture... :)

...and proof it's actually on a wall in a frame or similar.....I've got one but the shot of the picture is not very good, so can we have a ruling in that the picture is only to be judged...and not the shot of the picture o_O

I think we can be trusted to just post the original image and not a picture of the picture hanging on the wall. The one I'm thinking of hangs on the wall of a work friends daughter and I don't know her or where she lives so it might look a bit strange if I burst into her house, camera in hand and start taking shots. :D

Sounds pretty straight up and down Andysnap behaviour to me!

Perhaps we could later have a challenge which is a film photo of a print of a film photo hanging on the wall, which is itself a print of a photo hanging on the wall, which is... help, please! o_O

@excalibur2 Brian, is there a specific reason why there a packet of marlboro atop the frame of your entry photo ........Don't explain yourself if you don't wish to, I'm just curious ( being a bit nosey too I guess, ...Sorry)

No pictures of pictures required, and when I say 'printed' this may be wet or inkjet. Just one of your (film) pictures that meant enough to put on a wall somewhere. :)

Well to show the size of the pic.....so whatsit about 4 packets of fags across and about 6 down :D

Here is my scan without fags :D

This topic is obviously too easy: lots of entries already, and still the weekend to go!

Fantastic pictures though - definitely all worthy of wall space.

A friend of mine is showing an interest in joining in with future competitions and has asked me where he can find out about the sort of competitions that have been held in the recent past. Could some kind person give me a reference please that I can pass on.

This thread contains a list of some of the challenges up to about February of this year; should give an idea of the sort of thing. One nice thing is that they are challenges rather than competitions, so no prizes other than setting the next challenge!

Up to last year there was also a Photographer of the Year competition with monthly entries and cumulative scoring, and the last 3 of those also had a film subsection. However, this has changed this year to a different format with entries to be made all together (quite soon now, IIRC) and it is irrelevant whether an image is made on digital or film.

I'd suggest your friend just joins in; as you know, we're mostly a pretty friendly and supportive lot!

Thanks very much for your help and the difference between a competition and a challenge has been noted.
