New Nikon 50/1.2G on the way?

I'd pre-order as long as it's not astronomically priced. Can't see it being less than £1500 if it does come out though so not an insignificant amount of cash. Still just think of those creamy OOF backgrounds

Yawn. (Is there a smiley for that?)

99% of the lens rumours you see are rubbish. Nobody ever predicts the ones that do arrive, and there's just so much wishful thinking everywhere.

Yawn back at your reply :p

Just because it doesn't happen often doesn't mean it wont. Nikon have to play catch-up on the primes next, they've got everything else licked at 2.8.

Absolutely. If enough people make enough "predictions", sooner or later one of them will be right. All I'm saying is, don't get too excited and don't hold your breath.

I'm more excited by the idea of a TC-14E III and TC-17E III at the moment. :)

If they're as good as the 20E III is supposed to be then they'll be worth looking at for sure. I think those two being updated is a certainty, as is an update to the 200/2 ( which will annoy the forums more than the 300/2.8 did :D )

From NR
The Japanese site dc.watch published an interview with Mr. Nobuaki Sasagaki, marketing chief for Nikon Imaging (English translation).

On the question about upcoming products:

“明るい単焦点レンズと高性能な小型ズームレンズを投入”

“We will have several large aperture prime lenses and light compact zoom lens this year”

 :nikon:

Still not holding my breath but...

And where are they? And how of a premium over the exisiting TC II's....about 250-250 quid more?

Oh, and yes, id be more interested in those as well.....1.4G 50mm is enough for me....

About the same as the Canon 50mm f/1.2, I'd expect.

Exactly, and same as the other 50mm f/1.2 lenses, including the Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 Ai-S.
The depth of field also depends on the distance between the sensor of the camera and the point you are focusing so, there's not a specific value.
