So the new Nexus 7 hits UK shops today. Anyone bought one yet?

The tablet has also been released in the US, Canada, France, Germany and Japan.
In this country the Nexus 7 2 is retailing for £199.99 for the 16GB model and £239.99 for the 32GB version.

The original version of Google’s tablet was launched last year. Since then the device has been slimmed down and given a number of extra features.

The new device features wireless charging, 4G connectivity and a screen that offers 323 pixels per inch.
Google has claimed the screen made the next generation Nexus 7 the world’s highest resolution tablet, comparing favourably to the iPad’s Retina Display, which offers 264 pixels per inch. Both models offer higher resolutions than most users can perceive.

Still waiting for the 64G 10"

Slightly related, the Nexus 4 has had a huge pride drop, £199 for the 16gb and £159 for the 8gb, fantastic phone. However, expect the Nexus 5 phone sometime soon.
Tempted by a Nexus 7 as the 4 has been so brilliant and they share most of the hardware such as processors and GPU.

I've had mine for a week (ebuyer got them in early...). Was a bit underwhelmed at first, then I stuck it next to my previous gen N7... The display really is special, in terms of sharpness and colour intensity. Then I remembered my previous N7s sluggishness and there's absolutely none of that was the new model.

CPU-Z reckons the internals are identical to my N4, and i totally agree, at that price the N4 is almost a no-brainer to my geeky mind :D

Have to say I'm not 100% impressed with my N4 - it seems to lose 3G signal really easily and then takes an age (minutes) to reconnect. I've ended up ticking use 2G connections only which are really really painful. Will be moving to a new contract at the end of the year - thinking about a change of phone....

Hmmmmm odd... If you bought direct from Google I'd be returning it for exchange, I've heard anecdotally that they're quite good regarding warranty issues.

Seems to be a common problem that people have with them.

Can you not get a warranty replacement tho? There can't be any that are out of warranty, as earliest deliveries were around November last year...

No.. I mean that it appears to be working normally. People have had them replaced and they do the same thing....

I'm always sceptical about "others", where the Internet is concerned... If your phone is showing a fault, surely it's worth getting replaced under warranty to establish if its a hardware fault, or a network fault?

FWIW I have seven N4's in my stable as it were, and no issues so far, not even one.
