New modern car advancements ,likes and dislikes.

There are about six buttons over head in our car, near the interior light. Still have to study what each one is for, mainly for a combination of interior light configuration I think.

I think you'd find out quicker by pressing them rather than studying them.

Too many buttons, to remember what each one does. As long as I remember the important ones :).
As a guess, I've never had a Ford but are tempted by one at the moment.

2 are for lights
1 or 2 are for disabling the inside alarm sensors
Possibly another for sun roof?
And perhaps one to open a sun glasses flap?

Our are something like, all lamps on button / door function button / all lamps off button / individual lamps button / ...

Depends on how many lights in the Galaxy, My Focus has front and rear, as the Galaxy has a 3rd row of seats, there may well be a third light.
Front light will have on off switch, and two reading light switches. Not sure of the others, may possibly control the lights in the back.
If there is any way of disabling internal alarm sensors, it will more likely be in the menu of one of the two dashboard displays, but to my knowledge there is no means of disabling them other than through the OBD port. Sun glasses compartment is generally right at the very front just above the rear view mirror.

So which is it then the Mustang or the Edge? I have no idea why they haven't decided to sell petrol versions of the latter over here, I'd have thought it would sell well.

Mustang 5.0 :) I'm a sucker for a bargain and I think it is fantastic value for money. Got to sort my wife's replacement first and then will get mine sorted.

A muscle car? Must admit it does look the part, just not very practical :).

The worst 'innovation' is permanently lit dashboards. Many cars from the last ten years light the dash all the time (my seat is one)

If you live somewhere like Milton Keynes where everything is lit you see many vehicles driving around with no lights on.

Shouldn't matter, my dash lights are permanently lit, but I also have a warning light on the dash to let me know if my headlights are on.

Been quite tempted but as a fun car, Mrs Nod's XK8 is doing us just fine and I'm not sure how long the noise of the Mustang's exhaust would stay fun rather than getting annoying. Boot's too small for golf clubs too so it wouldn't be practical enough for me - mine takes the clubs on the diagonal with the electric trolley beside the bag. The Mustangs round here all seem to be driven by tw@s too. BCSD syndrome!

If you can fit a bike in the boot, albeit removing the front wheel, I'd have thought it will swallow up golf clubs easily.
ximm

Driven normally the V8 isn't intrusive inside or outside the car, it will be when you let it rip, that the noise becomes apparent. If you want more subdued noise there is always the 315PS 2.3 Ecoboost powered version.

LOL that is what my boss (work one) said. But he drives an Aston so is ready for pipe and slippers :p I just want to be able to post line-lock in the thread:)

It can catch you out, but there is normally a headlamp symbol that does show up.

I can fit a bike in the back of the s***box clio with the seats dropped. The clubs and trolley fit in the boot of mine with the seats up.

The prat who parks his Mustang opposite our drive from time to time (royal PITA since it's a fairly narrow road and it's impossible to get my car out when he's parked there but that's a different story!) drives his like a dick (that he is...) but even at idle it's pretty loud. Oddly, my only slight whinge about Mrs Nod's (other than it only doing 20MPG on a good day!) is that it's almost too civilised as far as exhaust note goes. Can be made to roar but that drops the consumption down to single figures and makes conversation at normal levels impossible.

He may have put an after market exhaust system on. Quite a lively community out there.

At around £200 per rear tyre, I can imagine that that's a toy best played with in the demonstrator only!!!

Possibly - he had stretched tyres on the shed BMW 7 series he used to have.

An extra £400 on a car that will only cost £34k in the first place, it's well worth doing.

On the demonstrator, maybe although as far as pointless features on a car, that has to rate fairly high!

No, buy one and let rip, definitely not pointless, it's fun.

And make a fun YouTube video of it to monetize it and get your money for another set of tyres back :)

That's strange because both mine, Hyundai coupe & Isuzu 4x4 both have dimmer switches that "dim" to off.

Aint that the truth !

Not sure how bright mine are when the headlights are off or even if the dash lights up at all when they're off! Don't think they dim all the way to off but they certainly dim enough not to be obtrusive or wreck night driving vision.

I reckon there must be loads of Keynsian students at the local university...

I don't get electronic parking brakes, give me a good old lever to pull any day!

Also, my little girl has a habit of climbing over the centre console to get into the front, one of the cars I just looked at had the electronic parking brake there, I could just imagine her standing on it and turning the brake off.

In mine, you have to either put your foot on the brake to manually let the handbrake off or pull away to do it automatically. TBH, I'd be more worried about a child being unrestrained in the car than the possibility of her accidentally releasing the handbrake.

She's always restrained when driving obviously, but sometimes on a long road trip we end up having lunch in the car if the weather is pants and there's nowhere else to sit.

The switch is disabled when the "ignition" is off as well.

Apparently I knocked the handbrake off in a car as a baby and the car rolled forward into a tree. I blame the parents!!!

Mine can be dimmed down to nothing, my gripe is the dash lights coming on when their absence might alert you to the fact you don't have lights on. Many people drive around lit areas at night blissfully unaware that they don't have lights on as the car is lit up internally, and street lights do the rest. If the dash were dark until the lights were on they might realise when they look at their speedo and can't see it.

People did the same before the permanently lit dash. I don't see any more culprits now, than I did then. It's more a case of whether a driver is used to driving at night. For me, before having cars with auto lights, getting into a car at night starting it and switching on the lights was just a matter of instinct.

I've never owned/driven a car with automatic lights and it's still part of my start up procedure if visibility is poor or it's dark.

Around an area like Milton Keynes where everything is lit it's become far more prevalent in the last five years or so, it's a daily sight now, especially leaving supermarkets and petrol stations.

I was in Milton Keynes last year and driving home at night, I can't say it was anymore well lit than any other town.

I think the difference being in MK that roads that have national speed limits are extremely well lit. Compared to the towns around me where they lit up only build up area aka 30mph zones

It depends where you were, there was a concern some time back, that the birds were not sleeping due to the bright lights, so they have been turned down in some parts.

Driving back from National Bowl to the M1.

That would be a national speed limit road, pretty well lit compared to most places ;)
Depends if he took the H6 to the M1 that would be pretty well lit, especially around CMK, but going North onto the H3 or H4 not so much ;)

PAH bamboozle me with numbers :P I'd say either the 509 or 421 to get back to the M1 are pretty well lit.
