Hi all i am new to this site,everytime i try to upload a pic i get a message
saying it is too large..i do not know how to decrease the size!
any help would be appriciated.

Hi Paula and welcome to TP.

Simple little free tool there.
Install it. R/click on your pic and select medium (that is a good size for here).

Sorry paula, I missed a step. After you R/click on the pic you'll need to click on the resize command (it should be fairly obvious).
If you want your avatar to appear remember to make it no larger than 80 x 80 pixels. Image resizer custom settings will do that for you too.

hi and welcome
decrease the size in photoshop or a good freebie
i use photofiltre
set the size at 800 max side dimension and save it less than 200kb
