Hello everyone, my names Rickyboy and as you can tell from the title I'm from sunny Scotland! I was recommended towards this forum from DetailingWorld as I'm about to take a step into the world of photography.

My girlfriend has bought me a bridge camera for Christmas this year (after I dropped a few hints and emails...) and this will be my first camera which isn't a phone too! So, only 3 more days to go until I finally get to take a picture without being interrupted by a text message... thank god!

I'm eager to learn as much as possible from you all. I've always been interested to an extent about photography but never really given it a proper go. It seems a bit daunting - depth of field, aperture, shutter speed and the like... I have no idea what these are but as I said, I am eager to learn.

Anyways, enough from me - I'm off to investigate these forums! Look forward to speaking to you all.

Ahhh, Hamilton - very close indeed to me!

Well as I said, this is my first camera which ain't a phone too so my good lady got me a Fuji S8100fd. Any opinions formed on this camera? I searched the forum but there doesn't seem to be much about it.

Anyway, it's my first camera - if it takes photos and i can learn from it to an extent then I'm happy!
 
Fuji make excellent cameras, started out with a Fuji MX700 back in 1999. Only traded up to a Nikon this past year as Fuji stopped making DSLRs.

You should have no troubles with it mate.
