Hello,

Just like to say hi! 27 year old male, Edinburgh. I got my first real camera 3 months ago, a Nikon D200 and various lenses and filters. Still haven't a clue how to use it, and previous to buying the Nikon, I had only ever owned point and shoot's...

Anyway, will hopefully learn from a few of you pro's, here are my favourite shots taken to date, all feedback good and bad appreciated!!!

WOW! not sure what else to say! If you are producing shots like that after only having a "Propper" camera for 3 months then cant wait to see what you produce in the future :) Can't pick a favourite out of that lot, I like them all in different ways! and just make me want to go to Edinburgh more :(

Welcome to the forums!

Welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the kind comments! I really enjoying playing with the camera, a very cool toy. Hope to be a pro one day, but so much to learn and so little time!!

Hi and welcome agree Wow really great shots:wave:
Bob:thumbs:

You've a great eye - and tech ability is not at all bad either. You'll do well! Welcome!

Hi Gary welcome to talk photography from another Edinburgh member.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here and learn more and get plenty advice etc, I've found this site a real goldmine of info. I'm still in the learning stage too. I like the pics you have taken but the Big Wheel at the Scott monument does'nt do much for me. Between the two art galleries at the foot of the Mound gives a great view side on with the winter wonderland as well if your back there. If you have no tripod there is a good wall to rest the camera on and use timer for nightshot. Glenlivet, my favourite tipple.

Hope to see more of your shots around Edinburgh, I suspect the 5th photo looks a bit like Clermiston Hill, would I be close?

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the heads up RE winter wonderland, I have been struggling to find a "good spot", so much going on when all I really want is the Wheel and Monument...

The hill is actually quite close to Cammo, I went for a walk through the woods one day, and that view was over a 6ft wall.

Maybe catch up with you at some point for a cuppa!

Thanks to everyone else who has replied, will post more shots at some point. Going to go play with the camera just now, no idea where to go but I am tempted to head for the highlands to try and get a sunset, then home. Overkill? :)

Exactly what I thought, nice opening set :)

Nice opening gambit, but loose the horrid black borders.

Drop me a pm with your email and I will mail you an action for photoshop with some nice 'drop shadow' frames will will compliment you pix nicely.

Diego.
