The inevitable happened today and apple released a nice long waited refresh.
I am very happy with the inclusion of USB3, and more RAM. That was the dealbreaker.
So now I am debating which one to go for. I hate using small laptop screen, and currently have 20" which will be upgraded to at least 24" or 27" Dell H-IPS shortly. So is 15" Retina IPS display really worth it? Unless I start editing on location, i will say NO.
I am just not quite sure about all the rest. The retina one has an (obvious) option of 16GB RAM, while the others don't. Does it mean they are non-upgradable in the future? This could be important a couple years later, as 8GB is bare minimum for today.
I will probably want SSD too (256 min), but apple options are silly money. 5400rpm HDD is a big no no. Can I upgrade it myself?
Finally what about dual core and quad core, and Intel graphics vs dual video cards?
I guess at some stage after putting all the extras retina one starts to look like a good contender. I am just not sure.
It will be used for stills editing and office work, but no 3D modelling or video editing.
