New logo. Thoughts?

Looks a bit basic to me, if I'm honest. What was your thinking behind the design?

Personally, I don't like the cross motif in the centre. A cross like that says "wrong" visually and generally. Not a message you want to give out, I'd have thought .... To me, a logo needs to have a bit more about it as it's the "face" of your business on your work and on everything else, such as your web site etc, which represents you out there in the big, bad world of commerce.

I'd have another go at it, if I were you.

Without knowing what you're trying to get across, my inclination would be to tighten it up (seems a lot of wasted space to my eye) and make it more punchy. The rubber stamp effect I like. I'd ditch the inner ring and use a bolder typeface and thicker lines for the cross.

Thanks Ed. I'll give that a try and see what it looks like.

Make sure it scales well. Ie you want your name to be legible if it's printed small or small on the web

Like that but with the other lettering bold too. The 'X' is reading a bit like a letter now though - CXS. Maybe that was better finer. Or maybe break it up with the 'rubber stamp' effect a bit more? I'm starting to flounder. In fact looking back at the original I think it looks OK now. Or perhaps the original but with the C and S larger and the cross at a more acute angle (if that's the right term). Something like this:

Sounds just like me when I was nearing the finish doing it. I think I'm going to walk away from it for a couple of days, come back and if I still like it go with it.

Thanks for all the input

Personally I think it looks like it should be on a football shirt. It looks a great logo, just not for photography. My opinion is simpler, the better.

I like this.. but I don't like the way they look on the sample images. I think a greater transparency is needed to take the edge off the look, maybe with a drop-shadow to give an embossed look? - after all, the logo appears to be based on an embossing stamp, which is why it perhaps looks slightly odd when applied as an inking stamp?

That's a great idea and one I haven't thought of, I just put them on as a rough sample. Definitely going to give that a try when I come back and decide on the final logo

Sorry going to be blunt here. The first reminded me of either a badminton logo or fencing logo that I have seen in the past. The latest reminds me of snooker cues. Sorry but I don't like the the X.

Saw a bloke wearing a Crew Clothing sweatshirt at lunchtime and thought of your logo, Carl.
