New logo required

Is photoshop the my only option to create a basic logo for my photography services? I dont want anything fancy just a nice text really and maybe have my initials J W combined as one.
 
I'd definitely use programmes like Illustrator or inkscape (free). The advantage of using these programmes is that you can draw your logo as vector base. This will allow you to resize your logos many time without losing quality.

Cheers for the swift reply sageislam a free bit of software would be ideal. Ive got a few ideas in my head :)
