Well new to me....

Hey guys n gals, I have just purchased a Tamron 55-200mm Di II Macro lens

This one to be more exact
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190456956650&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

It was a bit of an impulse buy in all honesty, I thought I would try a quick bid in the last few minutes not expecting to win. Well I did.

So now I'm wondering if the lens is actually any good and if it will fit my Canon 300D???

I know I should have asked all this before hand but I didn't have the chance, with me being new to SLR's, I have no idea what lenses fit and what don't other than EF and EF-S lenses fit my SLR fine.

Is it a good lens? I mainly shoot landscape, portrait and macro.

Any help/info greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking

The seller states that it is a Canon fit, and he has used it on a 40D, so it should fit your camera as well. I do not have experience of Tamron lenses so I am not in a position to vouch for their quality.

I also bought the Tamron 55-200 when I first had a DSLR camera in the Spring of last year. Considering it was only £99 new I managed some decent photos with it.Attached are four shots taken with the lens using a Nikon D50.
The one with the heron with a fish appeared in the local paper.Let us see some shots that you take with it.

I did read that but as I said, I'm new to SLR and know that lenses have different fits etc. Thanks.

Thanks for posting those, seems to be an ok lens for the money, only time will tell. I just wanted something with more focal length as the 18-55 does seem to lack.

I will once I have the lens go out and give it a test, will post the results up.

Thanks for your input.

It's an ok lens for the money, however I'm still wanting more range so may treat myself to the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro or the Canon IS 70-300 after Xmas.
