At the moment I have a Tamron AF 70-300 1:4 5.5 LD lens and I am thinking of getting the following lens

AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED £149

Or

AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor Lens
70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED
£209

Will I see any improvement in pictures with the Nikkor lens??

Thanks

To throw another contender in the mix - Sigma 70-300mm APO. For a budget zoom, it's very good glass! Or save up a bit more and go for a 70-200mm f/2.8...

Will have look at the other 2 suggestions :)

ouch that 2nd one you suggested is running into four figures!!!!!!!!! :)

Think I may go with your original post the 70-300 :) :)

Any one esle have any thoughts on this, as I have a budget of £300 and would really likie to know how much of an improvement will I see over the Tamron ?

Or is there something else I should be looking at getting ie keep the Tamron and go the shorter zoom Nikon??

Thanks again I just don't want to waste £300.

the tamron as far as i have heard is on par with the sigma, when not try a different focal length and go for a 10-20mm or a macro?

Where did you find the 70-300 at £209? I just paid £300+ for mine!!!!!

Is the one you are looking at the one with VR???? as thats the one I got, I recommend it!

Awesome lens though!!!!

I was scouring Ebay and found one for that price but having looked since can't see it, unless from Hong Kong with extra £40 postage.

Will be looking to get one from UK.

So in your opinion would I be better getting the 70-300 VR and selling the Tamron maybe?

Previous post said about a macro lens and I am not into macro at the moment, and again being a new comer to this what would people use the 10-20mm for???

I do like taking motorsport pictures hence why I was thinking of the longer zoom, but was thinking the 55-200 was in in between lens??

I am only just starting out really, Got the 70-300 with VR after borrowing one for a day and taking it round whipsnade, ......just HAD to have one after that! Also used it on boxing day at Mallory PArk, and it was pretty good at motor sport too, not processed those shots yet! :bonk:

Right that does it scour for a 70-300 and then sell the Tamron, (I think) why am I so indecisive!!!

Thanks again for all your help, sorry if being a pain :) :)

Thanks again, I am 99% sure going for the 70-300 VR now.

Dont worry p3ryg, and there is often no right answer to these questions! Being indecisive about lens choices is one of the many joys of photography I think! :p

you're telling me! I have to listen to you!!!!! :p :p :p
