Big praise to www.onestop-digital.com

My new Nikkor 55-200mm VR arrived yesterday, delivery was 5 days from Hong Kong and it was £80+ cheaper than in most stores inc Jessops!

Is it sad to be so excited about a new lens  First time I have used a lens with VR and its ace :D

Hmmmm, what to take pictures of now......

Arrived just in time for my Holiday, tomorrow!

Seems pretty cheap, however you dont get a European Gaurantee with that do you, what happens if you need calibration or want to claim under warranty?

That said the price is good, did you have to pay any other costs other than the list price?

There are a lot of Fleabay shops inHK offering 'No Import Tax' and a euro guarentee..

I got my Canon 580EX from one for £180!!! that was nearly a year ago too.. and NO TAX!!! hehe.. i had to pay £25 postage though..

Nice stuff, I've got the 70-300 VR also. The VR function is amazing, I have shot hand held at 300mm with a shutter speed of 1/60 and the pictures are still sharp.

The list price was £172.99 including postage. There were several ways to pay for the item, paypal etc but as I chose a BACS transfer from my bank I got £3 odd discount :D I kow have £1.70 credits for my next purchase and an extra.... £0.50 because i did a review on it too

This is where I got it from http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24_27&products_id=412

"This lens comes with Nikon International Warranty." It says too.

The VR is ace, i was comparing some handheld shots at 200mm at 1/10th sec, with the VR off it was cr@p, with it on though, it was pin sharp! Love it!

Interesting, in the UK my preferred shop is Microglobe, London. £175 and next day delivery, p&p £8

Okay so it's a tenner more, but I can talk to the London chaps easily enough and even pop in if needed - seems 'safer' to me (old fashioned eh?)

Nikon's lens warranties are global. Warranties on Nikon bodies aren't so you would have to return it to the country of purchase to be able to claim

I guess I was thinking about my own kit, I shoot Canon. I recently paid £929 for a 35 f1.4L from WH Express (tend to use them as they have always been very reliable and always post next day), then noticed the huge price differences in the link quoted by R8JimBob88 (almost £200 cheaper at the HK shop).

Ive never really thought about buying abroad before and just wanted to weigh up the pros and cons...

Ive never looked at Microglobe before, but its worth a look for a UK buyer. Some prices of kit are slightly cheaper than WH Express, and some are slightly more expensive.

I was in Tottenham ct road the other day, in one shop they were selling the 17-55 ef-s for £799, they said its retail price was £999.. anyway, i told them that MICROGLOBE were selling the same lens for £600 odd, they told me to watch them as they have been know for selling COPIES!!! now dont shoot me! its what THEY said.. just thought id mention it.. i know lots of peep that buy from there with no probs..

sounds like they are trying to scare you off getting it on the net. rubbish if you ask me, if it's copies i am sure it'll come to light ages ago

Can't believe it'd be worth anyone's while trying to copy a manufacturer's lens. Would cost a fortune and word would soon spread about it.
