New lens for Christmas Tamron 24-70 vc

Hi,

I am over the moon as I am now the very proud owner of a Tamron 24-70 vc lens a very generous gift from all my family. (With the option to exchange for something else if it did not suit my needs). Can anyone on here give me the pros and cons of this lens please. I wanted something that would do landscapes but also a bit of everything does this lens fit the bill. It is going to be used on a canon 1100d.

Go out and use it, you'll soon find out if its what you want! Everyone is different, some like to shoot landscapes with a 300mm lens, others with a 8mm fisheye.

It's a good general focal length, although better suited to full frame, but not to say it isn't perfectly adequate for most general situations on a crop body.

its great lens but its better suited to ff 24mm on a 1100d isnt very wide for landscapes. you would be better suited with the 17-50 or get a 6d!

I would say, on a cropped camera start with a 17 ish mm wide end
esp if you like landscapes
17-50 tamron
or the 18-250 sigma OS
or the 15-85 canon??
