Bought a new laptop at budget end (£350 Samsung) and wondering how to go about improving the screen display which is too bright, too saturated and too blue. I can't afford to buy a calibration gadget so wondered the best compromise for me to get it sorted?

I know, from reading this forum, laptops are not the best for photography but I don't have a choice as my health doesn't allow me to sit at my desktop for more than a few minutes.

Help would be really appreciated :help:

Control Panel > Appearance & Personalization > Display and checkout the items listed on the left hand side - this will give you a starting point to making a few tweaks to the display.

I would also like to know the answer to this. My missus has got some HP laptop thingy, she doesn't notice it but screen is very blue. I have tried to fiddle with settings as gramps suggested but no joy, (not because she asked me to but because it bugs the hell out of me ;))

Only sure way is getting a calibration tool, some of the early Spyder models come up quite cheap ... try a wanted advert.

I have been able to get at all the display options but keep fiddling with them & just not liking the end result. I (think) I remember a long time ago a free app that took you through with all manner of stages to tweak but long since forgotten where. I will keep Googling unless anyone else can give any input

Please let us know if you find a solution :help:

Been trying but I feel like sending it back- Amazon thank goodness. I would have thought that a laptop straight out of the box would NOT need such fiddling :nono:

Thanks Gramps for trying to get me sorted

The link looks good and am studying it

In the end I sent it back and Amazon agreed to refund me within 2 or 3 days of their receipt.

Every time I adjusted to my idea of the right settings they would not hold on restart. I had two calls with Samsungs call centre after which I thought why should I be going through this stress as clearly there was a fault. The tech support never gave me a direct answer to my question "Do you get others with this problem a blue colour cast dominating the display.

So my search for a laptop goes on
