If the data is backed up, the only thing you might lose is any pre-installed software (doubtful in your case.)

Never take chances with data.

Heck for some machines in the past I always carried a second or third battery. Even done some hot swap - not recommended unless explicitly supported by the manufacturer - and kept the machine running. It will not loose stored passwords or anything.
