I have just bought a new laptop (second hand but A1 condition) which has the Adobe Master suite installed. So that means that I will be using photoshop CP6 once I get the hang of it but would like to know which Raw application would I be best to get. I understand that the main choices are Lightroom and Adobe raw but have no experience of either so would appreciate suggestions. Thanks.
The laptop is - Lenovo Thinkpad W510, 24GB RAM,128GB SSD with a calibrated screen facility also so I am hoping it will be adequate for my needs.

I use lightroom as it is easier that Photoshop and also catalogs the photos for me. I thought that Photoshop CS6 comes with a RAW application (Camera RAW) already as part of the package?

Thanks for the reply. I think that I will be going down the Lightroom road but will check out the Camera raw first.

Lr is very easy to use and does everything I need it to do. If you are in no rush just wait for a bit as I understand lr6 is coming out soon.

Sorry lr6 is due around March 2015. So please ignore the last message.

Lightroom and Photoshop use the same raw engine - just with different interfaces.

Thanks for that guys. Think I will wait until the laptop arrives and see how I get on with the photoshop raw before deciding whether Lightroom would be a better option or not.
Is anyone familiar with the Lenovo laptop that I will be getting to grips with soon ?

Looks like a very good laptop with 24gb ram, you will need some external storage for the photos and backup.
