New Lappy

I got a new lap top this week now I want to install photo image soft ware
Question is do I keep my old version of Adobe photoshop which is about 5 years old or should I go for a new version of Elements? Any help or advice would be helpfull:shrug:

Depends on what version of Photoshop you have. I would guess that it's probably PS7 ?

That's a good version, you've got lots of functionality. I don't use Elements ( I'm on CS3) so I can't comment. However you can get a 30 day trial of Elements 6 from the Adobe web site

If it is PS7 you can upgrade to CS3, but not if it's PS6

Try it out and make your own decision. If you've room on the HD why not install both. You may find that there are only things you can do in PS but not in Elements.

If this machine will be used to load photos onto then it depends on what camera you have and if shooting RAW. Only later versions of PS will load the later RAW files.

If you are using the camera manufacturers supplied software for this then use whatever post processing software you are most comfortable with.

Ive only ever used photoshop so I am not familiar with anything else Tempted to give cs3 alook/ try as photoshop is too advanced for me so a smaller package might be better suited to my limited ability I have photoshop version 6 at the moment it came already installed on my pc (bought second hand)

Unless you have the original disks you won't be able to install PS6 onto you new lappy. besides I don't think it'll work with the latest breed of OS's from both Apple and Microsoft.

Your better off going for Elements. You can always try Photoshop CS3 at a latter date, but you have to decide if the price tag of £500+ for a new installation is worth it for you

I have just been on ebay and found a few sellers selling Adobe elements for£24.99 both say not boxed but state that they are genuine and unregistered has anyone ever bought one of these off e bay if so are they genuine as I dont want a pirate copy:shrug:
