If you would please.....

Just picked up my iPhone 3G 8gb today, and I cannot get on 'tinternet with it.
When I click Safari I get an error message, 'You are not subscribed to a cellular data service'.

I have an unlimited mobile internet deal on my tariff, but not sure how to get it running.

I would RTFM manual but I don't appear to have one!!!

TIA

you may need to ring your provider and change your settings, i did it when i changed tarrif and it took 2 mins to do. had no problems since.

It's probably that the network hasn't been set up on the iPhone. I have the same problem when I get a software update via iTunes. For some reason it decides to reset the the network set up.

You'll need to talk to your provider to get the correct settings. They should also talk you through the correct procedure. It's not difficult, you'll find it under the network settings in "General" ( That's the Cog Wheel icon )

When I got mine on Orange it took a fair few hours (like 8) for them to send the setup messages over, then you delete them and restart the phone. Not sure if this applies to you, but it could be? lol

Try powering down by holding button at top until you get a red slider then slide that.

Try this a couple of times an hour.

Are you upgrading or new connection?

Have you looked on your providers web site. I know O2 have the settings on there web site under support.

Thanks guys.

It's a used one, been reset before I got it I presume.

I've called Voda, and he basically said it can be updated via iTunes.
But the trouble there is that the seller said that I will lose the unlock if I update it....

I will lose the unlock if I update it....

You can unlock it on O2 website... I unlocked my 3G before selling it and upgrading to 3GS

Thanks, but they are asking what type of account I have (business, pay monthly etc) and my mobile number (which is a Vodafone number).

So I don't think this would work.........

hmmm......

Silly question - but does it work OK as a phone as well? Only reason I ask is that previously people have reported lost/stolen iphones, got a replacement on insurance then flogged the old "found" one. However what they fail to mention is the IMEI is blocked, and will forever remain blocked.

What network did the previous owner have it on and was it on contract or PAYG?
I suspect you nee to change the settings.

if you click settings, general, network, cellular data network.

What settings do you have?
