OK, just the main one for the momento.

A lovely birthday present of a new 64gb Ipad given to me on holiday.

Now back home and plugged it in to my PC.

Up it comes nice as you like and eventually, I can take photos from it to my PC.

When it comes to dragging photos from PC to iPad, it says not connected or switched off !

Why o' bleedin why, can it just be honest and say I hate PC's?


OK, I know I can do something via iTunes, but is there an easier way to get photos from PC to iPad, without significant expense?
 
You could always just email the photos to yourself and then save them from the email.

£25 buys the camera connection kit which would allow the images to be uploaded directly from a memory card.

Ta Dave, I saved a couple of quid buying the connection kit in New York, no good for CF3 cards though, Apple only think SD cards exist!

Admit the email idea should work, but at 65, will I have time?

I have downloaded for a CF card to my iPad using a cheap multi card reader and the USB adapter from the connection kit. The iPad can be temperamental with card readers, but some do work. Might be worth visiting a computer shop and trying some card readers (the small independent style shops, it's the cheap Chinese readers you want to try).
 
Just found the following instructions:

Transferring photos from a computer to the iPad is very easy with the help of iTunes. To get started, you’ll need either a Mac or PC with iTunes, a USB connector cable for the iPad, and a folder containing the pictures you want to transfer over to the iPad.

The process is exactly the same in both Mac OS X and Windows, which is why it’s the easiest universal method to transfer photos to an iPad from any computer.

1. Create a folder containing images you want to transfer to the iPad
2. Connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes, and select the iPad from the devices list
3. Click on the “Photos” tab
4. Check the box next to “Sync Photos from” and select “Choose folder…”


Locate and select the folder you created earlier containing the pictures you wish to transfer over, click on “Choose”

Click on “Apply” to begin syncing the photos from the computer to iPad

The images will sync over and create a new album within the iPad Photos app that contains all the pictures. If the selected folder contains subfolders with pictures, those will transfer as well, but you can uncheck subfolders if you want them excluded.

If you need to do the reverse and get pictures off of an iPad or iPhone, transferring photos from iOS to a computer is also simple and can be done entirely outside of iTunes.

1. Plug the iPad into your computer to sync it.

2. When the iPad management screen appears, click the "Photos" tab at the top. Check the "Sync Photos" box at the top.

3. From the drop-down menu next to that, select the program or folder that contains your photo library.

4. If you're syncing a folder of images, you can navigate through your hard drive to find the correct folder and then sync that entire folder or just select subfolders in it.

5. Once all your settings are correct, click the "Apply" button at the bottom right corner of the iTunes window to sync again and add photos to your iPad.
 
Thanks for all the suggestions, I did the thing via iTunes but wanted something easier.

Will have a look at the photo transfer app.
 
how about doing it through the heavens clouds.

Apple iCloud method:
install icloud control panel on PC, and put photos into the upload folder in Photostream.

Dropbox method:
put photos into dropbox. save photos from dropbox app on the ipad.

i couldn't get iCloud upload folder to upload, im using the dropbox method myself.

Does what it says on the tin, thanks Gary, just what I was after.

Easy as pie!

The iTunes sync means losing photos from ipad if I alter the master folder in my PC.

Will try that too sometime but my head's in the clouds at the moment:D
