Mac screens have dropped even further down in my estimation recently too, the amount of TB displays we have with issues. Next mac kit we buy we'll be specing dell screens (result, I've been trying to get that for years).

The Dell XPS all in one has an amazing screen I'm told. That was also in contention but it seems you can't buy it anymore?
Always been a fan of Dell. All our work machines and servers are Dell.

I programmed on an iMac for 5 years and loved it. More so that my Dell Desktop at the moment. I'm basing my potential purchase decision on previous experience.
I do know what you're saying though, especially if what they are saying about the new iMacs having the processors soldered to the board removing the ability to upgrade that area.

I have to agree with you here. However retina-ness is largely desirable, but not exactly ready yet for market. If I view my screen from less than 30-40cm I can see individual pixels, while for ipad it is more like 10cm.
Dell make separate screens. That way you don't have to suffer windows.
