If your car breaks down for some reason at a busy junction or on a main road say, make no effort to get out of the car and move it out of the way of the 1000's of motorists behind you. Simply pop on your hazard lights and whip out your smart phone and while away the hours.
Thank you for your attention.
Not far from the truth really, My BMW knows when I have broken down where I am and
what's wrong with the car so they can get me moving again and arrange transport because it knows how many passengers are in the car as well, if I have been in a bump or smash it knows exactly which area has been damaged and to what extent, if any air bags have gone off ETC, they even contact you if you have to emergency stop all this information is relayed constantly to connected drive, BMW connected drive automatically calls me from BMW control centre to ask if I am ok, I can respond and ask for assistance, if I do not respond they assess the damage and call the necessary emergency crews out to my location. all his can happen in less than 30 sec's before help is on the way.
If I come across an accident or a car/person in trouble I simply press the SOS button and I can get help there for them.
It's good to know technology is on our side as I used this in anger on holiday in France this year.
My eldest son was very impressed with the tech, when he first got in the car with his smart phone BMW welcomed him by text to the vehicle and asked if he would like to pair his smart phone, he replied yes and I just entered my key on the idrive.
So if you see me broken down be assured it's all happening.
All this and hands free too.
