Hi all,
Thinking of adding a 1TB HDD to my pc as extra storage- basic question how do I find out which type (ie connection) is compatible with my pc?
Is there a scanning tool to download or can I find out on the pc? Running win 10.
Thanks

Take the cover off and look! But it'll be in the mainboard manual. Google the make & model spec if you don't have one.

If the PC is only a few years old (where 'a few' could be as much as 10) then it'll be a SATA connector. It may only be SATA I or SATA II but that's not a problem as SATA III HDDs are backwards compatible and the connectors are the same.

It's worth taking Rog's suggestion of looking inside the box to make sure there is a space for an extra drive and whether you need connectors and screws.
