Hi peeps just bought me a new battery grip for my 400d, Hope its going to be as good as people make out, whats your opinion??????????

Makes the camera feel a lot better.

Much much easier to hold now.

Only have one niggle. Can't have the camera on the tripod when using my 70-200 F4L and the grip, as the grip catches on the tripod when mounting the lens on the tripod..

It's fine on my mates tripod tough.

I never take mine off my camera. Holds more battery's allows you to shoot in potrait in comfort. Its a standard bit of kit for me

:agree:

I only ever took mine off the camera to give it all a clean, canon still looks mint so it didnt really need it. The camera did however feel terrible without the grip. One of the best things ive bought as it really is useful. Plus it makes the 400D look larger and a little more pro ;)

Another permanent fixture
I bought mine for the extra battery power. It gives more options in where and how to hold the body, the portrait format controls are invaluable.
Not quite sure why it should foul a tripod though.

Try mounting the plate the other way around, so the grip is the other side of where it normally is. May be a little more clearance ;)

I have never taken the grip off my camera since the day i got it. Like the others said the extra battery power is usefull on a long day of snapping (altough obviously you could take a spare battery anway). But mainly it makes my 450d a more suitable size for my hands, and gives extra contol in the potrait poistion!
