Hi Mel, and :welcome: to TP.

welcome Mel,
How are you finding the OU course? Thinking of doing something like that myself

Hi Mel

Welcome:banana:

didn't realise they did an OU photography course... i keep missing the one at my college, so interested in alternatives... whats the syllabus like?

Not sure if this will help much but here are some reviews of the course.

I'm thinking about something like this myself, my only worry would be the lack of tutor support in this course looking at some of the reviews.

Welcome Mel ;) I was going to do T189 but ended up doing S180 oceans! :(

i'm doing the course with mel..

my thoughts?

main drawbacks are that you get no feedback from tutors.. you are given the course information to work thru on a weekly basis, great if you are confident on what you are doing.. you post images each week into an open studio (some from a specified activity) you are meant to comment and give critique on photos from those in your weekly group... fine when everyone does that!.. lots of 'I like this' type comments.. so again, not good if you aren't getting comments!

there are forums if you are having problems.. or for tips and general chatting

you get a copy of elements 6, but all the video tutorials are given using version 5, and are deadly boring!..

having said all that.. I have enjoyed it, its got me out taking photos I wouldn't normally have tried.. I've learnt new processing skills.. the information is good, not too complicated.. and have met some nice people thru doing it :)
