Over the last couple of months the volumn of Off-Topic threads has increased, and so its time for its own forum! We have stuck it at the bottom for now, so on your way down as you scroll through, pop in to some of the other forums on the way...

All posts in this forum - Talk Photography - will be photo related in some way, if its not, stick it in Off Topic

we are busy enough to warrent an offtopic section, means the admin team will actually have to do something
 
I kind of thought that this was the off topic forum, we have enough specialised forums already to cover every possible branch of 'on topic' threads without splitting up yet another one (imo)
 
Which just goes to show that what floats one person's boat doesn't necessarily float everyone's. :D

Give the idea a fair chance folks and see how it works out - nothing's irreversible. ;)

I was finding the off topic stuff getting a bit much.

Can't help being a little concerned though that I am slowly turning into Victor Meldrew as I don't like the RSS posts and now the volume of joke threads was getting to me. Hopefully I'll recover soon :)

I suffered a similar dilemma some years back...I embraced it....

I think the rise in jokes is really a reflection to the trime of year where less photography takes place due to weather and dark nights. The opportunities are still there but people (me included sometimes) are less inclined to go out with photographs in mind.

This said I am happy that another board has been added as I am aware that I post waaay off topic and need to be disciplined :D.
 
I think the amount of off topic posts is a reflection of how friendly it is here and the fact that we all like to just chat sometimes, even if it isn't about photography. But I do agree that off topic chat is better in an off topic forum, I think it'll work just fine :thumbs:
 
we will see how it works out, we did discuss merging general with equipement, but felt that that would be a little confusing, we dont want to have to scroll down past thousands of forums like you do on some sites, thats just confusing. First and foremost we are a photography community, now more than ever we are a community, but we want to make sure that the photography aspect doesnt get left behind while we all wait for the sun to come out again!
 
Well ... having asked the question a bit back ... I for one am pleased to see this addition to the forum ... :clap:

This way we can separate out the general photog stuff from the completely unrelated posts that have increased dramatically with the excellent growth in memebers to the best foto forum on the interplanetary web based thingy ... :D

Just my thoughts chaps & chapesses ... ;)

Every board needs a General Discussion forum. It matters not what your stance may be on the content of GD forums. Whether you think the content is interesting, funny, good craic or you believe it to contain nothing but dross - it matters not. The role of a GD forum is to remove non-mainstream content away from the mainstream forums.

It also gives bone-idle mods something to do :naughty:

Off Topic Forum - good idea imho (sure there should be a chocky bar joke in there somewhere!) - does the OT Forum have to be right at the bottom though as I get the bends scrolling down so far :gag:

Cmon, you can't just leave it titled 'off topic forum'... half the fun in creating an off topic forum is giving it a 'corny' name ;)
 
corny name eh? We did think about having it as a joke corner, but thats a bit daft, off topic fitted the bill at the time, but if anyone has any suggestions!

How about something like Members Lounge or Members Cafe or The TP Pub or something (?) - Best I can think of with a bit of a hangover :gag:
