My fiancee and i have finally got a date for moving in to our new flat. Its been on the cards for about 4 months now but the builders have been SLOW!

Anyway the point of this post id this. I have got an absolute shed load of things to organise and not a great deal of time to do it.

Can anyone provide me a list of utilities and services that i am going to have to get sorted when moving in?

Also a list of typical monthly payments (no amounts just types, electric, gas etc)

We are finally getting our own place but there is so much to think about i need a bit of help.

Congratulations! You can't beat having your own place :)

For starters, you will need:
Electricity
Gas
Water
Phone/internet
TV License
Council tax
Mortgage/rent
Buildings & Contents insurance
 
FOOD.....tesco is just about the biggest outlay

you could also add cable / sky to the list

and don't forget to factor in the other bills like your car running costs and mobile's etc. It's easy to get so swept up in the new things that you forget the old bills.

PS: Your solicitor should provide you with a list of other things and the costs so you can budget, I forgot to include STAMP DUTY in my calculations! :bonk:
 
i dont know if you have a joint account but we find it very useful for budgeting. all household bills come out of our joint account, and money gets transfered into the joint account automatically, it means that once the payment has gone out for the joint account, and once the car insurance and finance have been paid, wahts left in my account is mine :)
 
Some good examples there folks. We do have a joint account already setup with quite a bit of money in it, with the idea of having a DD from our personal account each month.

So i'm going to have to get the following sorted before/as we moving in:
Gas /Leccy
Water
ISDN phone connection
TV License

Then the monthly's are gonna be:
Gas/Leccy
Water
Council Tax
Rent
Phone & Internet
Sky TV (must have the football!!)
Food shopping
Household insurance
TV License

Plus personal outgoings: Car & Insurance, Gym, Mobile Phone

Ok. I'm officially declaring myself skint now. Any donations of photographic equipment are gratefully received!!

It is sooo exciting getting your own place, I found all the planning of the mundane stuff fun! It is a pain now coz I've never got any money! Gas again??? water again???? council tax.... again!!???? :(

Don't forget a Removal company unless you are doing it yourself.
