Build as big a shed as you can, but I've worked in darkrooms smaller than that.
If you're putting an enlarger in (of course you are, why have a darkroom otherwise ) then make sure your shed is tall enough such that enlarger + easel gives you distance to work with. Don't just spec up for 35mm or whatever you're using now, make it future proof and spec for 4x5!
