I was going to go to Jessops to get another D700 but have just noticed that Amazon are doing them £150 cheaper at £1641. That's the lowest I've ever seen them so now may be the time to grab a bargain.

Could have something to do with the imminent release of the D800 maybe?

I saw that, great price! Amazon prices can go a bit crazy at times, but may hint at a newer model coming out. I am in the position where I dont NEED a 700 but would like one, so happy to hang on.

Its gone down by £100 since I got mine from them Sept last year... No doubt it will rise in price again when you decide to buy it.... Thats what normally happens to me - sits in my basket till a suitable time for delivery (usually for a Saturday) then by around Thursday it shoots up in price :bang:

I'm not so fussed about them releasing a D800 the day after I buy another D700, I am wondering whether this will have an effect on second hand prices though as that may now be the way to go.

I bought one, fortunately I was planning on an Amazon purchase anyway as my Wife gets 5% cashback. I'm glad I wasn't a day earlier.

Note to self though; cease checking the prices from now on...

Yeah right - if your like me then I still check the prices (on all of my Amazon purcahses) - just to see what they're going for after I made my purchase & to wait to see the day that I actually got it cheaper when they decide to raise the price a little.... To which I can dream I spose :$

But than again on some of the goods I've got from them have gone up in price - then again they went down within a week or so

Best Buy are doing them at the same price, but you get 10% back (ex-vat) via Quidco, which brings a new one down to the same price as a refurb....
