Hi
First I would like to say sorry if this has been asked a thousand times before. I have been looking to buy a s/h d300s with no luck so far, so I have thought about buying a new one but quite a few shops I have contacted have none in stock. Could this be because a replacement is imminent. Just don't wan't to waste money if there is a replacement on the way in which case I could buy that. Although the D3s in the classifieds looks tempting :nono: Thanks for any help or guidance.
Gary

There's a D300s in the classifieds at the moment too.

No longer available new afaik. You might find a dealer who has one Ex stock somewhere. Whether a replacement's imminent is another mastter. Heard rumours of a D600 FX .

I've had one for two years now and been very happy with the overall quality

Thanks for the reply Peter. I am looking for a mint one with low shutter count. Only looking to change for far better auto focus system, better built, weatherproof, and higher frame rate to go with my recent purchase of a Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II.

Thanks Cagey75 The d7000 just didn't feel right for me. Are the Amazon ones UK or Grey imports ?
Thanks

I have no idea tbh. Might be worth messaging the company through Amazon and ask them direct. They have a decent rating on there to date.

I'd hold out until November and if a new body hasn't been announced then continue your search...

Something will definately be announced soon, too many upgrades needed now. its just a question of what...

I can't see a D400 any time soon. The next big thing is the D600, and I see that as more a back up for FX users rather than something DX users will jump on to. As it's the lenses that really bang up the expense for FX. The D600 will suit anyone who already has a bunch.

'Hold out until November' I am 50 years old Phil I could have a Heart attack before then

I've been waiting 6 years to make a move to FX ... knowing I may have the monies in a few weeks is making me more impatient now than that whole 6yrs together.

Buy what you need/want now! is what they say. Don't wait for the next 'big thing'.

Like you I have a D90 which I am happy with but as I said before only thinking of upgrading for the better auto focus system, build, weatherproof, and higher frame rate.

Oh yes I have seen your thread re the D4 D800. D3s in the classifieds Gary :shrug: :nono:

To be fair, the D300s in classifieds looks mint. I wouldn't worry about the actuation count. It's good for 100k. Do a bit of haggling ;)

I recently bought two D300s both with less than 2k clicks, from Digital Depot in Stevenage. Give Matt Taylor a call on 01438 367619. He also had a D700 with under 2k clicks as well. I have no connection with them, other than being a satisfied customer.

Look at my thread re: the nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Haggling

Woahhhhhh.

What advice is this folks?!

A D90 to a D300!?

That is not a worthy upgrade, not with what is on the market now and expected soon, I bet that would be a dissapointment once the novalty of a better body wears off. They have the same sensor so you're effectly shooting your d90 in a better body.

If you sell your current body it wouldn't make it an expensive upgrade but I bet you'll want another upgrade shortly after.. .

Yes it was 1 minute Phil. A:thinking::nono: D3s

Bit of a price difference between a D300s and D3s :D

Why not a brand new D800 instead of a used D3s?

See above ^ she's less likely to notice a new D800, hide the boxes in the garage :D

I have the grip Gary I have been looking at your Genuine Nikon BL-3ga for the D300s

The grip for the D300, D300s and D700 is the same one so all of these will work fine with your grip. Gary was right get the D300 or a D700 forget about the D300s.

The wife keeps saying 'Life's to short' ( I hope she said life ) So I thought **** ** it lets go for it.

Never worry Merv will not sell it at what your offering he already has a higher offer to trade in. You might not catch him anyway he is away to Portrush for the air show.

Ok Thanks Tommy I thought he may fall for my charm wit and personality :D So it's back to the D300 or D300s then. Better look at a Ferrari and a couple of page three girls to cheer me up. Better have 999 on speed dial.
Have a good weekend all

You never know....

Maybe he has found the d4 cheaper elsewere and cash would suit better.

Gary, seriously mate, if you have £2500 to splash on a D3S i would advise you spend the money on a 300mm f/2.8 prime or even a 400mm f/2.8 to go with a D300 or D700 or even a D3

Ive been where you were and the glass is way more important than the camera, i have a feeling you are trying to run before you can walk, take time out to consider what you want to do and whats more important to you as at this moment in time i really cant see how a D3S can benefit you.

Hi Gary
I hate to say it but I feel you are 100 per cent correct :( I can sometimes get a bit carried away :nono: and loose my sense of direction. Thanks for the advice Gary :)
