MOD EDIT : see thread https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/new-compute-help.606567/#post-7108289

I have the option of two computers (specs below) one is only 16" but has a better graphics card and looks like the CPU is faster (although reads as same model - maybe over clocked ?) The other has a 17" screen but slower graphics card but larger hard drive. I could go for smaller screen laptop and add my own second screen

Should I go for option 1 or 2

Option 1

• 2.6GHz, 6MB Smart Cache (Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz)
• Windows 10 Home 64-bit ● 8GB DDR3L SDRAM
• 1TB 5400 rpm SATA; 128 GB M.2 Solid State Drive ● SuperMulti DVD Burner

• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M dedicated 4GB DDR3L graphics card

• Bang & Olufsen sound with 2 speakers ● Multi-format SD media card reader
• HP TrueVision HD Webcam (front-facing) with integrated dual array digital microphone

Option 2

HP Envy 17

Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ Quad-Core Processor

• 17.3-inch Full HD IPS anti-glare WLED-backlit display (1920 x 1080 pixels resolution)
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX940M dedicated 2GB DDR3L graphics card
• Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2x2) and Bluetooth 4.0 combo (Miracast compatible)

Depends what you'll use it for and what's the price difference between them. If the hdd is your main concern, you can always buy an external one as it's not very expensive. Option 1 has a SSD with a better graphic card but yet again, you'll need it ?! I'd go for the 1st one IMO...

Thanks.... First is actually cheaper but of course monitor will have to be bought to. It's going to be used for Photoshop mainly and other graphic type use.....

Actually I have not used a laptop with extra monitor.... Does it work OK. Not work but does it 'work' ? If you know what I mean.... Is it a good setup

Out of interest, care to share the prices of both?

Could also try asking in the computer section, may be some that can help that don't look often in here....

HP are a funny old brand, there consumer Pavilions etc... are really poor build wise yet there business brands(Probook etc...) are superb.

have you looked at the Probooks/Elitebooks?

To be honest we have a HP and I don't like them BUT this is from my wifes work PC scheme and you get a decent deal so hard to turn down

I work for HP in Erskine and can say the Probooks are great as thay are proper business grade kit.

So do you know anything about these two computers ?

I cannot find any info or reviews on them - the girl I spoke to said one was N7J05 but I cannot find any mention of that anywhere on the HP site
