New Car Advice

When I said it felt like a different car, after the decat and intercooler, the engine felt alot more like a petrol in characteristics. Obviously still not revving as high, it's hard to describe. I've known people who had a decatted and remapped car like mine but without the intercooler. They were sceptical to say the least of what the intercooler would do for them, they took the plunge and were very shocked and suprised at the new lease of life thrown into their engines. Imagine how pleased they would have been and had the remap done last as it should be.

Is this in anyway related to the thread topic?

Same as every other thread where someone asks for car buying advice then ;)
I don't post in all of them, some I just ignore.
I bet I've posted less about mine than someone else with a certain car who pays diddly squat for his insurance compared to what most other people pay for a family car.

Quick update - considering pushing the budget up to £4-6k on finance through Black Horse who seem very reasonable. As such looking at a Seat Ibiza 1.9 FR. It's only 3 door and the boot is about the same as my corsa but I got in one and kinda fell in love! It's got the workhorse 1.9TDI VAG engine that everyone raves on about. 66,000 miles for 6k seems pricey - it's an 08 model but should do me until say 150k max and i'll sell it. Any thoughts? And I can get £800 p/x for my busted corsa hopefully.

I'd have a look at a VW Jetta, I never really liked them (looks wise) but was after a VAG TDI and the Golfs are too expensive, and the Octavias were pricey too. A check on autotrader shows you can get one for under £5000 with reasonable mileage. I've found a 56 plate example on autotrader with 58k on the clock for £4500.

I'd sooner have the 4 door Jetta with a big boot than have a 3 door hatchback with a small boot.

Just something to think about as the Jettas don't hold their value as well as the Golfs.
